Information related to new coronary infections
In the event of infection with a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), attendance will be suspended “until five days have passed after the onset of symptoms and one day has passed after symptoms have abated,” in accordance with the School Health and Safety Law. (A positive test result is also considered a positive result if the student does not visit a medical institution but tests positive by self-testing, etc.). Therefore, a medical certificate from a medical institution is not necessarily required to suspend attendance.)
Please consult with your instructor or the Educational Records and Programs Office for details on how to handle classes (including regular examinations) during the period of suspended attendance.

Disaster and Safety Information
- The Graduate School has a Disaster Prevention Manual based on university guidelines.
- Tohoku University uses a safety confirmation system to confirm the safety of students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency. In the event of a disaster, we ask all students to reply to the safety confirmation e-mail from the dedicated application. Please check this manual and set up the application.
Disaster drills are held semi-annually on campus. They help students practice responding to disasters and identify weaknesses in their evacuation plans. The schedule is published on the online bulletin board in GSICS.
