The online edition of "International Cultural Studies"
The academic journal “International Cultural Studies,” published by the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies at Tohoku University, invites diverse submissions primarily from alumni and graduate students. In 2019, it switched to an online journal format and has been sharing research outcomes with a wider readership. Furthermore, the journal contributes to the mission of the Graduate School by advancing international cultural studies, while providing faculty, students, and alumni with an academic platform for presenting research outcomes and fostering academic exchange.
Moving forward, we anticipate that "International Cultural Studies" will be filled with innovative articles that intellectually stimulate readers. We hope the research discussed within will grow into even larger collaborations through the exchanges facilitated by the journal, attracting wider readership. Ultimately, we envision these research achievements forming the foundation for top-tier book publications and placements in international academic journals which are ranked among the best on a global level.

Call for Papers
The editorial board of the Journal of International Cultural Studies, the periodical of the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies (GSICS), Tohoku University, would like to invite contributions for its issue n.32 (online version n.7). Submissions are open to teaching staff, current students, alumni, and/or research fellows of the GSICS (second authors etc. do not need to be affiliated with the School).
It is necessary to complete the Submission Application Form before submitting your manuscript. The form can be downloaded from the link below. The completed form should be sent to the editorial board by email (the email address is printed on the form).
The deadline for the Submission Application Form is 17:00 (JST), July 31, 2025. The deadline for manuscript submissions is 17:00 (JST), September 30, 2025.
All the manuscripts will be peer-reviewed, and the authors will later be informed of the results. This issue of the Journal of International Cultural Studies is scheduled for publication in March 2026. For further details, please refer to the Journal’s Submission Guidelines and Manuscript Formatting Guide.
By submitting a manuscript, you will be deemed to have agreed that the Tohoku University library make a soft copy of the manuscript and post it on the library's online repository. If you have co-authors, you need to secure their agreement on this matter before submitting the manuscript.
