As the world's economy and population grow, global environmental problems such as climate change, destruction of ecosystems, and depletion of natural resources are becoming increasingly serious. The Department of International Environmental Resource Policy is committed to creating knowledge and fostering human resources that will contribute to solving global environmental problems, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and international perspectives.
The primary characteristic of our course is an "integrated scientific approach. Many environmental problems are caused by a complex interplay of natural scientific phenomena such as weather and ecosystems, economic and political systems, population dynamics, and even social norms and culture. Therefore, their elucidation requires an integrated scientific approach that examines problems from multiple perspectives, drawing on knowledge from environmental science, ecology, engineering, economics, psychology, and other disciplines.
The second is "emphasis on an international perspective. Many of the environmental problems occurring in various countries and regions are organically interconnected through globalization. Even the same problem may appear in completely different ways depending on the economic situation and cultural background of the country or region. For this reason, our department is constantly seeking improvement measures from an international perspective through cooperation with overseas universities and international cooperative organizations, and through the implementation of international joint research.
The third is an emphasis on practice. Although there are various approaches, the ultimate goal of the course is to solve real problems. For this reason, we have faculty members with extensive practical experience in policy making, and we conduct our research and educational activities with an emphasis on the field, in collaboration with companies involved in environmental issues and with the cooperation of the local community.
