(Held on July 24) International Lecture "The Ottoman Mixed Commercial Courts and Extraterritorial Justice in Nineteenth-Century Asia"
International Lecture Hosted by the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies (GSICS)
"The Ottoman Mixed Commercial Courts and Extraterritorial Justice in Nineteenth-Century Asia"
The Graduate School of International Cultural Studies is pleased to host an International Lecture by Dr. Zülâl Muslu, Assistant Professor of Public Law and Governance at Tilburg University, the Netherlands.
This lecture focuses on the Ottoman Mixed Commercial Courts, an institution that has received little attention in the conventional historiography of international law. By placing these courts within the broader context of Asia, the lecture demonstrates how they offer valuable perspectives on the transformation of extraterritoriality and the formation of the nineteenth-century international legal order.
We warmly welcome all those who are interested in this topic.
