Invitation for International Students: Hagi No Kai Cultural Activities (Jan–Feb 2026)
We would like to inform you about upcoming cultural exchange activities organized by Hagi No Kai, a local volunteer group.
Hagi No Kai is a community-based volunteer group dedicated to promoting Japanese culture and intercultural exchange. The group warmly welcomes the participation of international students and researchers. Through seasonal events and hands-on cultural activities, Hagi No Kai provides a friendly and welcoming environment where participants can experience Japanese traditions, interact with local community members, and learn about everyday Japanese culture.
All international students enrolled at Tohoku University are invited to participate in the following activities:
1. Mochi-Pounding Event (Mochitsuki)
Date: January 18, 2026
Time: From 10:00 a.m.
Meeting Point: Naritasan Temple
Transportation: Transportation to Naritasan Temple will be provided for participants who gather at Kawauchi Post Office by 9:45 a.m.
2. Setsubun Bean-Throwing Event (Mamemaki)
Date: February 1, 2026
Time: From 10:00 a.m.
Meeting Point: Naritasan Temple
Transportation: Transportation to Naritasan Temple will be provided for participants who gather at Kawauchi Post Office by 9:45 a.m.
After each event, participants will enjoy a home-cooked Japanese lunch prepared by members of Hagi No Kai. The activities are scheduled to conclude around 2:00 p.m.
Participation is free of charge. These events are especially recommended for international students who are interested in Japanese culture, local community interaction, and casual Japanese language and cultural exchange.
