Tohoku University is currently focusing on collaborative research and student exchange programs with major institutions in India.
Also, this fiscal year, Tohoku University has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Project for Strengthening Global Deployment Capability of Universities —Supporting the formation of inter-university exchange with countries in the Global South—" and as part of this,
on Friday, February 6, 2026, an event called "MEET India" will be held, aiming at deepening understanding of Indian culture and promoting cooperation in education and research.
The event will be held according to the following details.

At this event, representatives will be invited from the Indian Embassy, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and private companies, aiming to deepen the understanding of Indian culture, raise momentum for studying abroad in India, and establish a foundation for research collaboration.
Additionally, introductions to Indian culture by Indian students studying at Tohoku University will be held.
