Regarding thorough animal quarantine measures following a suspected ASF case in Taiwan

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), has requested that we strengthen awareness and caution regarding thorough animal and plant quarantine measures following a suspected case of African swine fever at a pig farm in Taichung City, Taiwan.
A suspected case of African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed at a pig farm in Taiwan, increasing the risk of it entering Japan. In response to this, the Animal Quarantine Service will be strengthening public relations efforts regarding the ban on bringing livestock products into the country for people entering from Taiwan and other countries, disinfecting the soles of their shoes, and inspecting personal belongings and international mail.
