Alert: Report of bear sighting

Please be informed that a university staff has reported a bear sighting.

Date/time: Friday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 16:39

Place: On top of the tree on the north side of Micro System Integration Center (μSIC)  (Please refer to the attached map)

Number of bears sighted: 1, total length approximately 1m


Information on bear sightings is relayed to the appropriate Sendai City authorities,
with whom we conduct an on-site investigation and consider countermeasures.
Please take note that city authorities have advised that we remain alert at all times.
Future sightings will be reported as needed, however, students, faculty, and staff
of departments that are located close to the sighting location
are advised to be especially alert and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

-Try not to go out alone at dawn or late at night.
-Do not leave garbage outside overnight and be sure to place it at collection points during daylight hours.
-When entering wilderness areas, carry something that emits noise, such as a radio.
