- Project Description
- This project aims to examine how freedom of navigation—one of the most fundamental principles of the international maritime order—has been maintained. It is often argued that this principle was endorsed by Anglo-American hegemony; however, this project instead contends that the principle itself has reinforced Anglo-American hegemony. This claim is seemingly supported by the fact that the United States has countered China’s maritime expansionist policies through the defence of freedom of navigation.
