From Etymology to Vocabulary Learning: The Fascination and Magic of English Etymology -November 27
This symposium will explore the intellectual fascination of uncovering the true meanings of English words through etymology, while also examining vocabulary learning that utilizes knowledge of etymology and word formation and its educational benefits. We will explore the potential of etymology from a wide range of perspectives, including a comparison of Etymological studies in Japan and England, the rich history of English vocabulary, teaching methods in university English education, and the role of meaning inference by learners themselves.
