International Seminar: “Parliaments, Parties, and Federations: Rethinking the emergence of modern political system in Eurasia”-September 14

This event launches the ‘Eurasian trilogy,’ edited by Ivan Sablin and Egas Moniz Bandeira, which revisits the development of the modern state through the lenses of parliamentary regimes, party-state rule, and federalist designs in Eurasian empires and their successor states. Through three case studies examining Japan, the Soviet Union, and China, the seminar shows how the political shape of modern states was co-produced through reinterpretations of both vernacular and globally circulating elements.
