She is also a member of the Department of Human Brain Science at the Institute of Development, Aging, and Cancer, Tohoku University. Her research focuses on the brain mechanisms of language processing and second language (L2) acquisition, utilizing a brain science approach. Specifically, she investigates linguistic factors in word and sentence processing, exploring the similarities and differences between first and second languages. Furthermore, she studies the role of context and environment in language learning, examines the neural basis of procedural and declarative memory systems for L2 acquisition, investigates the influence of nonverbal factors on language communication, and explores the relationship between language and emotion, among other diverse research topics. Her work has been published in reputable journals such as <em>Human Brain Mapping<\/em>, <em>Bilingualism: Language and Cognition<\/em>, <em>Language Learning<\/em>, <em>Brain and Language<\/em>, <em>NeuroImage<\/em>, and <em>Neuropsychologia<\/em>. In the 2016-2017 academic year, she served as a visiting scholar at the Brain, Language, and Computation Lab at Pennsylvania State University. Hyeonjeong Jeong is an associate editor of the <em>Journal of Neurolinguistics<\/em> and a member of the editorial board of <em>Brain and Language<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her team conducts interdisciplinary research and actively encourages collaborations with researchers in various fields such as linguistics, education, psychology, and cognitive neuroscience, both nationally and internationally.
