Kaitlynn Mendes is a Lecturer in Journalism at De Montfort University, UK. She is particularly interested in representations of feminism in the press; women's health reporting; media history; children and news; and new media technologies. Her most recent work can be found in international publications including: Feminist Media Studies (forthcoming), Sociology Compass (2008), The International Encyclopaedia of Communication (2008), Routledge's Companion to News and Journalism Studies (2009), The International Journal of Cultural Studies (forthcoming), and Social Movement Studies (forthcoming). Her first book titled Feminism in the News is due to be published in 2011. Kaitlynn is an active member of the academic community and is: the co-editor of Feminist Media Studies' 'Commentary and Criticism' section; on the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA) Women's Network executive committee; and is the immediate past Chair of the MeCCSA post-graduate network. |
