In this ad, as in many others, a social inequality exists between male and female. The former is the drone in the outside world.
His step is heavy, his bearing sluggish and grim.
The woman, by contrast, maintains a well-ordered inner world.
She is gay, playful, full of life.
Coloration in their garments -- as much as their demeanor -- accentuates this difference in social role.
It also works to connote social views about these gendered roles. |
