タマサート大学教養学部日本研究科、タイ国立開発行政大学院大学 (NIDA) 言語コミュニケーション学科と国際文化研究科の共催によるシンポジウム「Thammasat University—Tohoku University—NIDA International Symposium on Japanese Studies 2020 : Harmonization of Cultural Studies and Language Studies」が、2020年2月6日（木）と7日（金）の両日、タイ・バンコク市のタマサート大学タープラチャン校にて開催されました。教員、学生、あわせて50名程の参加がありました。

本年、タイを代表する３つの大学で日本学専攻の博士課程が開設され (カセサート大学は開設済み、タマサート大学とチュラロンコン大学は8月開設)、NIDAもそれに続くことが予定されています。これを機に、本研究科とこれまで盛んに学術交流を続けてきたタマサート大学とNIDAとの協力関係をさらに深めるべく、そのkick-offの意味を込めて今回のシンポジウムを共同企画・開催しました。
本研究科からは2名の教員と1名の学生を派遣し、江藤裕之教授 (言語学)、クリントン・ゴダール准教授 (日本思想史・宗教学) が基調講演を、坂場寛子さん (応用言語研究講座博士後期課程1年) が研究発表を行いました。他にも、タマサート大学、NIDA、そしてラオス国立大学の教員と学生による研究発表と活発な討論が行われました。学生の発表には4校の大学の教員からのコメントやアドヴァイスがなされ、学生にとっては有益な機会であったことと思います。
来年はNIDAがシンポジウムの担当校となり、今後の一層の学術交流、教員・学生の交流を推進していくことが確認されました。タイには本研究科の修了生も多く、今後の本研究科の東南アジア地域における国際交流の拠点となることが期待されます。
