In an era of globalization, languages play a more crucial role in our lives than ever before. It is imperative for societies throughout the globe to provide language education appropriate to such needs. This department aims at training language educators and researchers who are able to take leadership in this endeavor. A wide range of issues concerning the learning and teaching of English, Japanese, German, Spanish and other languages, as well, are addressed in the fields of language acquisition, language education policy, curriculum formation, methodology, evaluation, and application of multimedia technology, among others. Due attention is also accorded to the particularity and commonality which each language possesses.
