2020.6.12 Financial Aid for Ensured Housing(住居確保給付金)

This is a scheme that supports those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic due to reduction of income or loss of jobs and have difficulty paying rent. Rent will be paid directly to the landlord (or real estate agency) on behalf of the tenant.
The minimum rent payment period is three months and has a maximum limit of nine months.

2020.6.8 Request to cancel any unnecessary overseas travel

Due to the global spread of COVID-19, regardless of the destination, students are strongly requested to cancel any unnecessary overseas travel, including a private one.

2020.6.2 Notification from Dean to Students (June 2nd Edition)

Notification from Dean to Students_Tohoku university has decided to move its BCP level down to 2 from June 1. (June 2nd Edition)

2020.6.1 Changing the method of issuing tuition receipts

From this year, it is possible to issue the receipt of tuition fee by yourself using the “Certificate issuing machine” located on the 1st floor of the Kawauchi Kita Campus Administration Building.
In principle, it can be issued after the first day of the month following the tuition transfer date.
Note: The receipts in Japanese only. If you need in English version, please ask Academic Affairs Ofiice.

2020. 5.8 The Immigration Services Agency of Japan has updated Measures to reduce congestion at the immigration counters in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19.

There is the extension of the period for acceptance of applications for those foreign nationals whose expiration date for their period of stay is due in March, April, May or June, 2020.
Also, the period for receipt of the examination results (issuance of the residence card, etc.) has been extended for three months.

Tohoku Univ GSICS Students

Spring semester class start date will be changed to start on April 20 (Mon).
The new student orientation will be changed on Thursday, April 16th, around 10:00 to 14:30 (large hall on the 6th floor of the Multimedia Education and Research Building).
The orientation for each course will be changed to be held from 15:00 on Thursday, April 16th. The orientation classes for each course will be announced separately as soon as they are determined.

Notice:Power and Water outages on Sunday, 25th August between 7:30 to 19:00 or longer.
Please read following notes;
1. You cannot enter and go out from the building during above times.
2. The elevator is inoperable. To prevent confinement, you had better not use the elevator just the night before.
3. Pay attention to the perishable food of the refrigerator.
4. You should turn off the PC and printer, and remove the power outlet whenever possible.
5. Red colored water may come out after restoration of water outage. Please use it after flowing red colored water out for a while.

We have received complaints of tailgating by motorcyclists around campus. Tailgating is extremely dangerous and has led to fatal accidents in the past. If you commute by motorcycle, please do not tailgate. Even if you do not use a motorcycle, for your own safety please observe all traffic rules when commuting.
