 The Department of American Studies pursues research on and education about the culture, society and history of the United States of America from an interdisciplinary perspective. In other words, it aims at research and education covering multiple disciplines beyond the framework of existing atomized academic specializations. Emphasis is placed on practical research methods (including sociological surveys, statistical analyses, and field work) and joint collaboration with specialists in other academic fields and from other countries.
